Purpose of this website

monahassan.com is the personal website of Mona Hassan, presenting her work, philosophy and offers (including online sessions, initiations and email updates) and enabling visitors to join her email list.

2. Terms of Use

By using this website or taking part in any session, program or initiation offered by Mona Hassan / SONA LUMINA ("we", "us"), you agree to the following terms.

Use of this website

This website is provided for informational purposes and to allow visitors to learn about our work and join our email list. Content, imagery and copy on this site may not be copied, reproduced or redistributed without prior written permission.

Nature of the work

Our offers — including initiations and any movement, dance or embodiment practice we guide — involve physical movement, breathwork, and practices that may lead to altered or expanded states of consciousness. This work is experiential and personal in nature.

Health & participation acknowledgement

By taking part in any session, initiation or practice, you confirm that:

• You are in general good physical and mental health and have no condition that would make participation unsafe.
• You take part at your own risk and are responsible for listening to your own body and stopping or modifying any activity that does not feel right for you.
• This work is not a substitute for medical or psychological care, diagnosis or treatment, and is not recommended if you are currently in an acute mental health crisis, are pregnant (unless specifically cleared and adapted for this), or have a condition (such as a cardiovascular condition or epilepsy) for which physical exertion or altered states of consciousness could be unsafe. If in doubt, please consult a medical professional before participating.
• You are responsible for your own choices, actions and wellbeing before, during and after any session.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mona Hassan / SONA LUMINA disclaims liability for any injury, loss or damage arising from participation in a session, initiation or practice, except where caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

Third-party platforms

Email sign-up, session bookings and related communications may be processed through third-party platforms (currently Kajabi). Your use of those platforms is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

Intellectual property

All content on this site — including the "SONA LUMINA" name, the Mona Hassan personal mark, text, photography and design — is the property of Mona Hassan unless otherwise noted, and is protected by copyright and trademark law.

3. Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously and process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Austrian data protection law.

What we collect

Depending on how you use this site, we may collect:

• Contact details you provide when joining our email list or getting in touch — typically your name and email address.
• Session & booking details if you book a paid session or apply for an initiation, including any information needed to deliver that service and, where applicable, billing information processed by our payment provider.

We do not currently use cookies for analytics or advertising — see our Cookies section below for details.

How we use your data

• To send you emails, offer announcements and updates you've signed up for.
• To deliver a session, program or initiation you've booked or applied for.
• To respond to your enquiries.

Legal basis

We process your data based on your consent (e.g. joining our email list), the performance of a contract (e.g. delivering a booked session), and our legitimate interest in running and improving this website.

Third-party processors

We use trusted third-party providers to run this website and our offers, currently including:

• Kajabi (email/CRM, sign-up forms and, where relevant, session bookings) — a US-based provider. Where personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.
• Hostinger (website hosting).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes above, or as required by law (e.g. accounting records), after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; to restrict or object to our processing of it; to receive a copy of it in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by unsubscribing from our emails). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, dsb.gv.at) or your local supervisory authority.

4. Cookies

We do not currently use cookies for analytics, marketing or advertising on this website.

The only cookies you may encounter are strictly necessary ones set by embedded third-party functionality — for example, our email sign-up form, provided by Kajabi — needed for that functionality to work. These are not used to track you across other websites.

If we introduce analytics, marketing or advertising cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent first. You can always control or delete cookies through your browser settings.

5. Refund & Cancellation Policy

Live sessions

Live online sessions are non-refundable once purchased, but your spot can be transferred to another date or gifted to someone else — just let us know in advance at mona.maria.hassan@gmail.com.

Initiations & multi-month containers

Our initiations (such as the Egypt Initiation) are application- and waitlist-based, with a limited number of places. Once a place is confirmed and a deposit or payment made, these are non-refundable, given the planning and commitments made on both sides — unless otherwise agreed in the individual program agreement you receive when your place is confirmed. That agreement takes precedence over this general policy for the specific program it covers.

Free content & email list

Joining our email list or accessing free downloadable content is free of charge; no refund policy applies.

Nothing on this website or in any session, program or initiation constitutes medical or psychological advice, diagnosis or treatment, and none of it is a substitute for professional care.
